Absolutely, taking a break from needles and being able to graze your way through a day without a ton of injections are certainly helpful benefits from a pump.

Recently started Contol-IQ and weâre finally getting along. Had to learn some new tricks to tweak settings, and understand what influences the insulin flow.

But when you use Control IQ it makes you turn on the carbs setting I saw. Doesnât that mean you have to enter carbs?
Sort of. On the carb wizard screen you can just touch the top and input the insulin units. So on that screen you just bypass the wizard.

I do this most of the time, since I base bolus amount on carb+protein, and adjust based on iob and past/planned activity level.
I have learned that over-bolusing can work well to, since CIQ will decrease basal if needed. So portion of bolus basically acts like basal.
Best way to learn is trial and error AFTER you are up and running.
Understanding how and when CIQ makes changes FOR YOU is best observed first, then ask for help when something isnât working as you expect.
