Something’s up with my Interstitial Fluid: Looking for answers and starting with basics... what is insulin resistance? And can it affect IF Glucose?

Holy crap! (Among other sentiments which I try to curtail on FUD, as I’ve got a super potty mouth, but in thinking them for the you of yesteryear.)

Wow!

Oh, the humanity!

We have left offices because of the staff more than once, but your story takes the cake. And especially as a sensitive person, I can imagine what a lasting impact that would have. (EH is the opposite of sensitive - he’d just tell them that they are irrelevant. Which they actually are! Irrelevant! But it took me into my late 30’s to realize how many people’s opinions are irrelevant.)

I’m so glad you’re better now! And I’m glad you knew your body enough to be right about the coffee!

And sharing is super important! Because think of someone new to diagnosis going through the same type of experience - if they see this thread - maybe they’ll realize that the person making them feel like crap is irrelevant sooner?

I’m sure most people on FUD have some negative marks in their medical records. Trying too hard. Testing too much. Not following doctor’s orders. Using insulin not as prescribed. Against medical advice.

No wonder I like it here!

Check, check, and check to all of those…pretty much as soon as I was on insulin. The doc who prescribed it admitted she knew nothing about LADA (was used to treating gestational diabetics as a maternal fetal medicine specialist), so I just did what I thought was best and reported results to her. She wanted me to go through the hoopla of not taking insulin as I saw fit for a week to prove I’d have higher numbers; I did it for one day, and then went back to what was working. Funnily enough, every MFM I saw in that office always praised me for how well controlled I was compared to their other patients.
