Well that would be the $1,000,000 question isn’t it. Perhaps it is cheaper? Who knows.

Mine was replaced in November via the recall, and had a loose retainer ring at the time (though it hadn’t really affected the pump’s functionality yet aside from a couple of no delivery alarms I think were probably related)…
The replacement pumps also have plastic retainer rings, but they are now a solid color (the same color as the rest of the pump) and hopefully more durable.
