Aha, thanks so much @CarlosLuis ! I’ll feel confident strongly insisting on saline having this information.
Good thoughts headed your sons way!
Sending warm thoughts your way and hoping for a speedy recovery for your son!
Thanks everyone. Well surgery/avoiding infection is going well. The pain is a bit more than he bargained for, but looks like he is turning a corner (to the positive) over the weekend. He has had to reschedule a bunch of things, but all good lessons learned.
Just as an aside, they did not give him steroids, so that hasn’t been an issue. It has just been general pain management.
Well he has healed for a few weeks now and is back to normal activities, except lifting his arm over his head and lifting big weights. But fortunately, well enough to get his schoolwork back on track.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. His surgery was handled well. No one tried to hang a bag of dextrose, Anesthesia used his pump to monitor his blood sugar, and there were no complications. Now we wait for the out of network billing…
Thanks for the feedback to the group! I’m sure we’re all glad it worked out and things are headed in the right direction. Hopefully he continues to improve and regain usefulness of all his parts! It’s also been a good teaching tool for many of us on what to know, do, and look out for when emergencies or surgery are involved! If you or he have any “lessons learned” from the events, please let us all know…sometimes its the small items that turn into bigger issues overtime…
