Is Buying a NEW but Outdated G5 Transmitter a Mistake?

The SB date is the Ship By Date. Have you read these topics below? Based on the comments in these threads I think it’s highly unlikely the transmitter still works. According to @Michel a Dexcom agent admitted that 80-90% of transmitters fail when you start it 12 months after the manufacture date. If possible, return it to the seller.

How Long do Dexcom G5 Transmitters Last Past the "SB", or Ship By Date?

I am simply curious to find out how long a Dexcom G5 Transmitter will last past the SB, or Sell By date. I called in to Dexcom and asked this question, but the tech support didn’t seem to have an answer. Anyone have any personal experiences with this?

Sensors, yes, but I can’t get a stockpile of transmitters, so depending on where I am with those, I could be out of my Dexcom supplies fairly quickly. Personally, I could afford to buy a transmitter and would. But the statistics for American households are that almost half can’t cover an unexpected $400 emergency, so I don’t think that’s true generally.
