How do you dispose of needles and other sharps

Hi @petesteve and welcome to FUD! I am a UNH grad, 1979. Back in the day it was pretty quiet in southern NH so I ended up moving to Seattle to find work. Ended up finding a lot more than that, stayed here and never looked back.

Anyway, glad you found us here on FUD. Stick around and add to the discussions as often as you can.

@petesteve I’ve used a sharps container since starting insulin (red body, clear plastic top with sealable holes for depositing). I bought a larger one when on MDI, now use the smaller version (pumpers use fewer needles). I’ve built up a backlog of free containers by requesting them on cruises (no additional fee, though I’m sure we’ve actually paid for them by cruise fees). I just ask the stateroom attendant and they deliver one (I’m sure it will stop at some point!). I currently have one in use (being filled) with two more waiting for use. Here in VA, the rule is to use a sharps container, laundry soap bottle, or other strong sealable container, close them tightly, and deposit in normal trash (not re-cycle). If you’re in the US, check out https://safeneedledisposal.org for guidance in your jurisdiction. BTW, welcome to @petesteve to FUD!
