The Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES)(formerly CDE) register list 3, but they are only dieticians. I’ve had poor advice from those.
Yes in every state I’m aware of that’s true—- but every cde I’ve ever met is a registered nurse or a dietician— not an NP—- I’m Sure there are some out there that can write rx but it’s not the standard

Here in Ontario, Canada the RN Diabetes Educators can write a script but only for 3 months and they cannot renew them, must be done by an Endo or GP.
I found my endo by calling different hospitals and asking the nurses. My childhood endo had retired and after going to 2 others who did not suit me was looking for another.
My first question was did you know Dr. X. The doc I chose was because of the nurse, she knew Dr. X and after saying those kinds of docs don’t exist anymore told me who was most like him.
Had a great relationship up until the past year.
Now I think the health care system is getting in the way. Hard and fast that 180 mg/dl is in target where it didn’t used to be a problem at all to have it much lower.
The nurses know they just have to be willing to tell you.
