Experience trying to get a Covid antibody test for our son

Wow. Just Wow. Can you ask his Primary Care?

We went ahead and just had my wife tested since they wouldn’t test my son and we all had the same illness in Feb. Unfortunately the test came back negative, so we are back in the same boat. But still frustrated by the inability to get access to the care we were willing to pay for.

if it helps at all, given the overall prevalence in the population in February and the specificity/sensitivity of these tests, the odds EVEN IF your wife tested positive would still be greater that she had not had COVID-19. Given that she tested negative, the odds that she’s truly positive are really vanishingly small – and the odds that your son is positive too if they both had the same illness would likely be quite small as well.

Yes, your analysis is spot on. We were hoping, but realistically Oregon has had a really low amount of cases all things considered, so it was unlikely that we had it, but it was a really wicked virus even if it wasn’t Covid. Don’t want that one again.
