Engineered Micro Pancreas in mice

This interesting company makes micro pancreas constructs on scaffolds made out of lung tissue. They just won a pharmaceutical prize in Israel:

The thing I liked: no vascularization needed – and you need a whole lot of them, but that also means it’s quite resilient. it is sidestepping the all the implantation issues. I am not clear on one aspect: autologous or heterologous?
