Emergency meds: Glucagon, Baqsimi, Gvoke, Zegalogue?

Something that I have not seen mentioned yet on this thread…

A great thing for parent/spouses/partners to have on-hand for an emergency are straws!

If you are trying to get apple juice into a person’s mouth when they are almost completely out of it, pouring it into their mouth is messy and dangerous. But you can use a straw.

The reflex to drink from a straw still exists long after other things leave you. If you can lean them up and get a straw into their mouth, they will probably drink from it if you encourage them.

My wife has done that with me. She knows that glucagon is only a last resort, because glucagon kind of sucks. If she can lean me up, I will gladly drink juice.

Liam drinks from juice boxes in his sleep. Doesn’t even wake up. We haven’t had to do it in a while but it’s crazy how it’s an instinctual thing that you do whether awake, asleep or states in between.

Right?!?! It’s funny how that works!

One time we were on a trip and were in a hotel room and Leslie did not have any straws. It turned out to be a big problem for us that night.

We don’t need them very often. But on this rare occasion when she needed one, she didn’t have any!

So now, whenever we travel, she makes sure to have straws packed for an emergency.
