Medicare is ridiculous when it comes to its co-pays b/c it won’t outright cover modern insulins. the thing that i don’t understand, regarding specifically Medicare, is that it is financially cheaper to pay for the insulin now, rather than the consequences Ds will develop and live with in the long run. hospitals, surgeries, tangential physical problems and anything else that will develop due to poor A1c control.
i have been on Medicare for what feels like forever. my monthly co-pay for 2 vials of Novolog is almost $200. i don’t understand how the government can expect me to afford my medications (i use many other drugs each month, and they are similarly pricey)
(i must add, though, that Medicare does pay 100% of 300 test strips per month, for which i am very grateful) (but that is their limit; if i need more strips on that, i go to Amazon.com. (they are infinitely less expensive than if i were to purchase them from the pharmacy)
