Does omni work for everyone?

Be careful with exercising with high sugars if ketones are present is advised against as it can cause more ketones

An alternative, if you can get it or if you can afford it or if you don’t reflexively cough whenever you inhale powders, is Afrezza. Quick results, in my experience much less chance of a crash afterwards, and it’s all out of your system in an hour or so.

I been on Omnipod for almost a year. I never had a leaky pod. I would call the 800 number and let them know. Getting the sugars controlled takes time. Your doctor needs to play around with the bills and basal settings until it is right for you. It is a matter of hit or miss until it gets controlled and it takes time.

I’ve been using Omnipod for a while and I do have issues off and on. It seems to be with specific lots with me. If my numbers go up for no explainable reason I give a corrective pen shot and I change out the pod and call it in. It unfortunately happens. I do it pretty easily. Sometimes it’s just a trend of staying higher than normal, sometimes it’s more obvious.

If I start to go higher than I like and I think it’s mistiming or maybe misdosing I get on my exercise bike to stall the rise and to help it come down. It works great.

The other thing that happens is our needs can change, so I look at trends for 3 days and will sometimes make an adjustment if I feel it’s needed. That’s one thing that’s great about a pump, those adjustments you can make to your day’s dosing. Do small adjustments at first, and remember it will take about an 30-60 minutes to kick in. I have 3 or 4 programs in my PDM that I can switch easily too and make small adjustments if needed., one for when DP is really active, one for when FOTF is really active and one “normal” one. Right now I have a fourth I just programmed because my need for insulin has dropped in half at night for some reason.

But you need to get down your basic basal rate at first. This is a great tool for basal testing.

Have always used IM injection for super highs. Works every time. Changing from omnipod to MDI with Lyumjev. Can’t wait to try and see how meal bolusing goes.
