Could I have picked a worse time?!?
Donāt you have another 8 hours after that?
ā¦because at 8am on New Years Day I am gonna be wide awake and ready to change a pod!
You arenāt up by 8am after a long night of celebrating???
Slacker!
Yeah. No. I run the full 80 hours; Iām cheap, my wife is too. We are a pair. Those damn pods run 80 hours. I change when Iām told (touches forelock respectfully, doffs flat cap no so much so.)
Different take I guess (doing American now.) My weeks are 80 hours long. Itās not been hard to adjust too but I donāt work for the man, any longer (except when on jury duty; poor pay and no damn medicare!)
Every time we are on jury duty we should get a quarter.
Same. I get the full 80 everytimeā¦it helps in building up reserves.
Happy birthday @ClaudnDaye !
@Liam-M is 11 today! Thanks!
Hard to believe heās nearing a decade since diagnosis.
Ty for the holiday card also! If i mailed out cards, i promise youād be on the list!
I just noticed this tonight!
So what did you do for New Yearās Eve, Eric?!?
Changed both my pod AND my sensor!
You will just love it shrilling noisily when you are sound asleep and how do I turn the D**** thing off???
Not that I ever had that happen ā¦
Time to change both the day or evening before!!!
And talk about poor planning, well maybe messed up planningā¦
Go out for coffee and a vegan malasada this morning with hubby
Forget to take Afrezza with me
Oh well, theyāve always had them so Iāll take a shot, only 15 minutes before butā¦I do know they are open today.
Take a big shot, guessing how many carbs are in a malasada??? Because Iāve only had it a couple times and I havenāt pinned it down yet. Decent sized so, a taro donut is about 60 and that is smaller soā¦
Get there and ā¦ they closed an hour earlyā¦
Luckily the vegan taro donut shop was down the street or it was going to be stop and get me some oj to guzzle. Vegan gummy bears were not going to cut it.
I canāt imagine a vegan malasada! Whatās used instead of all the egg?
Sorry that trip went awry - luckily you had Plan B and Afrezza is short lived!
@MsCris lol, the recipe I saw used instant yeast? That would make them fluffier. There are vegan substitutes for egg, but what you use depends on what result you are going after. But there are many vegan chefs/bakers out there now, and they get very innovative figuring out how to convert favorite recipes. I remember when the first vegan marshmallows were figured out.
But I have never had a ārealā malasada so I have no way to compare. But they are fluffy, but maybe not as fluffy as glazed donuts that I remember used to be. But I havenāt had those either for over 40 years sooooooā¦
@Marie I too have had plenty of vegan foods and baked goods, and make some myself!
Because Iām Portuguese and have a long history of malasadas in my family, none of the egg substitutes Iāve known of could do it justice. Flax, chickpeaā¦I canāt imagine it tasting right even if the texture is there.
I think of it as being a protected status food. But, with all the carbs, I donāt eat them anymoreā¦I miss them at Christmas time. Sigh.
