Don’t you have another 8 hours after that?

Yeah. No. I run the full 80 hours; I’m cheap, my wife is too. We are a pair. Those damn pods run 80 hours. I change when I’m told (touches forelock respectfully, doffs flat cap no so much so.)

Different take I guess (doing American now.) My weeks are 80 hours long. It’s not been hard to adjust too but I don’t work for the man, any longer (except when on jury duty; poor pay and no damn medicare!)

Every time we are on jury duty we should get a quarter.

Same. I get the full 80 everytime…it helps in building up reserves.

And talk about poor planning, well maybe messed up planning…

Go out for coffee and a vegan malasada this morning with hubby
Forget to take Afrezza with me
Oh well, they’ve always had them so I’ll take a shot, only 15 minutes before but…I do know they are open today.
Take a big shot, guessing how many carbs are in a malasada??? Because I’ve only had it a couple times and I haven’t pinned it down yet. Decent sized so, a taro donut is about 60 and that is smaller so…

Get there and … they closed an hour early…

Luckily the vegan taro donut shop was down the street or it was going to be stop and get me some oj to guzzle. Vegan gummy bears were not going to cut it.

I can’t imagine a vegan malasada! What’s used instead of all the egg?

Sorry that trip went awry - luckily you had Plan B and Afrezza is short lived!

@MsCris lol, the recipe I saw used instant yeast? That would make them fluffier. There are vegan substitutes for egg, but what you use depends on what result you are going after. But there are many vegan chefs/bakers out there now, and they get very innovative figuring out how to convert favorite recipes. I remember when the first vegan marshmallows were figured out.

But I have never had a ā€œrealā€ malasada so I have no way to compare. But they are fluffy, but maybe not as fluffy as glazed donuts that I remember used to be. But I haven’t had those either for over 40 years soooooo…

@Marie I too have had plenty of vegan foods and baked goods, and make some myself!

Because I’m Portuguese and have a long history of malasadas in my family, none of the egg substitutes I’ve known of could do it justice. Flax, chickpea…I can’t imagine it tasting right even if the texture is there.

I think of it as being a protected status food. But, with all the carbs, I don’t eat them anymore…I miss them at Christmas time. Sigh.
