Dexcom or Dexter?

I’ve had issues like this more with the placement of my Omnipod. I’ve woken up at 3 am to an alarm going off saying my Omnipod stopped functioning, then when I ripped it off, a river of blood happened. When something like this happens, wash the blood off yourself, then apply pressure for a few minutes. I know that’s a pain in the butt with a CGM (or an device really) due to it thinking false lows with pressure but it’s something you need to do. It’s not you or the product, it’s just annoying placement problems. Sorry you had to go through this.

Ewe. Bloody mess. I wear my G7 on the top of thigh towards the inside of my leg. Can’t wear on arm. I get compression lows every night. Belly reserved for pump. I think the hole is the antennae. I have had a wire poke through a couple of times. When I call Dexcom always wants that one back.

I put both pump (Tandem) and Dexcom (g6) on my belly. Can you do that with the G7 as well?

I don’t see why not. For me the leg works best. On belly need to be aware of where you place. If clothing compresses could get readings that are not accurate. When I was on G6 belly did not work well. Worked great on arm. I guess our bodies are all so different. Thanks for your reply. Jane

Changed that site today. It lasted the whole time + the 12hr grace period. I was surprised to see a bruise underneath!

I put the new one on the back of the same arm without issue.

I may try this spot next site change!

@jo_jo Wow, that’s a pretty impressive bruise! I had one where the whole area turned red and a bit puffy, other than that, a coupe with bruising around the cannula, but nothing like your picture! Here’s hoping it doesn’t happen again or frequently! You sure you didn’t change it your sleep and bang the dispenser into a door frame while putting it on? (Just kidding…the body reacts to “invasions” differently) I’d have to try something else if that was a routine response!

@jo_jo Are you taking any omega 3 supplements like krill or fish oil or baby aspirin? These can decrease clotting.

Ha ha I’m sure.

No, I’m not. I should though, I’m terrible at taking vitamins.

Does this suggest I have a clotting issue? That sounds scary.

Next time you’re scheduled for labs, request a CBC, my endo always does those. That will show if your platelets are low or not. Not usually done but maybe test for vitamin k.

After checking the vitamin k test is rarely done. That request may be denied.

I’m concerned that I’m making a mountain out of a molehill. Most of us have experienced bleeders and bruising. I’ve been on a prescription omega 4 drug for years because of high triglycerides. It keeps those normal but does interfere with clotting.

I stop using it if I’m going to have any kind of surgery.

Thanks for sharing! I’ll run it all by my Endo and show him the pics and see what he thinks:)

This is a bleed, not a bruise. Happens when you hit a blood vessel. The yellow is your blood getting absorbed and it’s got more blood still red on the bottom side where the bleeding has pooled. If it read alright you’re good.

For what it’s worth, I bruise easily and heal quite slowly. I don’t take fish oil supplements or other omega 3s, but I do eat a small amount of fish most days. I have had all sorts of labwork done and it’s mostly in-range, so my PCP is not overly concerned. Also, I assume, being 51 years old doesn’t help. CBC can be used to see any obvious red flags, if it concerns you.

So here’s the next one I put on. It just expired and when I took it off it’s bruised too! It’s the back of the same arm. I think I’ll start taking krill oil!

I hope it doesn’t hurt!

I’m still on G6 and do not often get bleeders or bruises like this. I think the G7 is much more difficult in insert. I tried a few of them just to test out, but I had a difficult time just attaching and injecting them.
