Yes but. Back when they did it, I believe Medtronic was trying to put Tandem out of business by getting exclusive pump deals with the big insurers. To stay alive, Tandem decided to capture the profit on infusion sets by making it so that their pumpers could only buy infusion sets from Tandem. It worked, and Tandem survived. I wonder how many years we need to wait before the proprietary connector goes out of patent protection so we can get 3rd-party adapters, but I’ve switched to Omnipods so it doesn’t affect me.
