@John58 As you have the Eversense installed and have experience with the O5, have you considered trying the Loop DIY AID? I believe the Eversense is now available to all Loop users and know the O5 is supported with dev version. Just a thought, you know what works best for you…

@TomH Loop DIY is probably a good next step. Right now I’m trying to get everything nailed down for some travel, returning late September. Trying to start DIY Loop now would be cutting it too close. I’ll be most confident on the trip using the Omnipod 5 with the factory software.
Before I start DIY Loop I’d like to see a comparison of Tidepool loop (used on the twiist) to the DIY. There were a few features on Tidepool loop that were confusing.

That’s the principle but for twiist it is in the pump, so the pump does not need the mobile to control it. Likewise for the O5; the 'pod contains an algo which makes decisions about insulin dosage based on the “iCGM” input. In both cases the “iCGM” connects directly to the pump.

As it turns out, I could not tolerate my brief foray back to the Omnipod 5. After a terrible few days on one pod I started back on twiist pump using the replacement pump sent to me by Sequel. The Tidepool loop software on the twiist is far ahead of the Omnipod 5 algorithm, especially dealing with two things the Om5 never did well for me: correcting a post meal high BG with a soft landing and creating a smooth transition to flatline overnight while sleeping.
So far all is well with the replacement pump. I’m planning to use the twiist pump /Eversense CGM combo on my upcoming trip, carrying 10 pods and two Dexcom sensors as partial backup if the twiist goes kaput, also a months worth of Lantus and excess vials of Novolog as manual backup in case circumstances require MDI.

@John58 Sorry you had the issues, but glad you found what works well for you, particularly with your trip. Planning supplies for a long trip brings a whole new perspective to the saying, “May you live in interesting times!’ Hope your planning pays off!
