I’m currently running Trio, a variant of LOOP, with Dexcom G7 and Omnipod Dash. Its been pretty good, and I’m very fortunate that anything diabetes related is covered 100% no copay through my employer group health plan. They also cover AccuChek test strips but no others. THey also cover my Novolog vials and FIASP pens for bolusing when they were available but now they are on backorder and my endo said that he will not continue to write scripts for both since his team is worried aobut them being audited for ordering too much insulin. (I go thorugh about 100 units of Novolog daily for basal alone and about another 100 units via pen for bolus, so nearly 200 unites total perday!).
I get 18 vials of Novolog per 90 days and I think like 6 boxes of Fiasp per 90 days so I have quite a back stock. I’m concerned, though, about what happens when I run out of pens?
My enedo’s team suggested I come in and talk about going to a U-200 insulin in my pump only and no more pen bolusing, but I’m concerned about that because as far as I know there is no U-200 Novo product (they don’t cover lilly products) and U-500 is way too slow.
Only time will tell I guess.
Anyone have any other suggestions?
Anyone hear anything about Eversence 365 being supported via Trio? I know that it is via Android Apps but I don’t want to have to go back to Android. I’m hooked on iPhone. Right now my arms are too sweaty to put the G7 on them so I exclusively use my abdomen. I rotate, but I’d say that for every 10 I put on, maybe 8 of them fail around day 7 or 8 so I have to get them replaced. I’m getting sick of this. You’d think Dexcom as a company would reach out to me for being such a high replacement person and work with me to get this figured out. But all they do is replace them and I haven’t heard from anyone ever. I don’t understand such a high failure rate.
I thought of asking my endo to write the script for Dexcom replacement every 7 days, but I was told that since they are rated for 10 days, every time they fail early I should report them for replacement since it is their fault they are not lasting the full 10 days as rated so they won’t re-write the script.
Thoughts?
