Effectiveness of NovoLog vs Humalog in a pump

Thanks Eric for posting all of this. I am about a month into an experiment of using Humalog in Omnipod, so far my results are no improvement over my insulin of last year (Lyumjev). In prep for the insulin switch away fro Lyumjev, I used a few leftover vials of Novolog and thought it was great. However, now I’ve been using Affrezza for post meal corrections pretty frequently once I made the switch to Humalog. Recently I had to throw out a partially used vial of Humalog because it was pretty obviously degraded by being out of the fridge for a few weeks.

My Medicare Part D pharmacy plan that also covers Omnipod only covers Humalog but not Novolog…but they also frequently change their formularies so who knows which Part D will cover Novolog next year. It’s a jungle out there.

Tandem says to change sites every 2 days with Humalog, 3 days with Novolog. It’s something to do with the reaction to the preservatives and the plastics.

I find that Humalog is less effective day 3 as my suppies are on a 3 day schedule regardless of the insulin provided by the evil Pharmacy Benefits Managers of the day.

Do you have a web link from Tandem stating that? If so, can you post it?

It would be a tremendous help for people fighting for approvals when a pump company officially says that!

The screenshot is from page 32 of the Tandem x2 pump current user guide. No it doesn’t give the reason, interaction with the plastic is my opinion.
The pdf takes forever to load.

Thanks @CarlosLuis!

Anything like that is very helpful for people who are trying to appeal with their insurance!

I will add it to the top of the thread too. I would like to make this thread the go-to for anyone who has to do an appeal.
