Insulin In Pumps

A 2012 study found that insulin in a pump can retain potency for 14 days when exposed to a continuous temperature of 37 degrees C (98.6 degrees F).

I want to thank everyone for their responses to my OP. I don’t think that we will have an answer to what is the meaning behind tossing the insulin in a vial at day 19 when insulin had been drawn from the vial to be used in a pump.

Just have to be a mystery or mistake missed by a proof reader.

I am aware that there is evidence that insulin can be effective after expiration date, past 28 days from 1st use or even baked in hot cars.

My Tandem trainer cautioned me about filling cartridge for later use which makes me think there’s concern of a chemical interaction between the bag and the insulin.

Currently there is no clinical data showing any degridation with pump approved insulin, in fact the opposite. For example, two pump approved insulins, novolog and lyumjev, are approved for 6 and 9 days respectfully. I’ve fully filled cartridges since pump approved insulins were first approve, decades ago, w/o issues. It is to bad the rep doesn’t know what there rjing about and continues pushing an untruth.
