DN’s Running and Other Mishaps Thread

Which Huma are you taking? Do you take a bolus for it? I’m trying to add addl carbs to my run and am thinking these look good  Right now I’m using Sport Beans.

Btw, these are fantastic numbers!!! Stable BG start to finish!!! :star_struck:

Then I’m looking at a race on Nov. 3rd. But this is the social one—- unless we’re all in agreement it’s okay to be social in the beginning and end and take care of “business and medic tent” in the middle. If I were to look for another, how much of a break would I need in between, and would the second race be before or after the 3rd??

I’ll take pictures. It’ll be fewer words and more accurate. I have a variety, and some have caffeine while others don’t. Some of he flavors are kind of killer, but I just practice mental toughness and pretend like I’m stranded somewhere and if I don’t eat it I die. But I’ll send you a picture I’m a bit.

@T1Allison, he’s like a drunk man, all stumbling and emotional, telling confessing his love to everyone and tearing up. Can’t take that guy anywhere. But I think if we put him in those tall socks and pom poms, it’ll make him look more festive when he’s doing it. At least.

@Eric, before you get all twisted, I’’m joking. Except for the Pom Pom part. I do think that would make you look more festive.

If you want to do two, you can do them in either order.

  • If you run your target race after your social race, make it at least 4 weeks after. And know you would work a little bit during the social race as a training run, but could still keep it fun and not push the entire time.

  • If you run your social race after your target race, make it at least 2 weeks after. And know that you would not be running it fast. You would still be in recovery mode.

If you want to only do one, and it is November 3, that gives us 14 weeks starting next week.

@Trying
I suggest starting with a variety pack and trying them all to see what you like.

Once you have decided on a few flavors you like, you can do a custom order from the Huma website and get just the ones you like.

Nicky, I thought we had a "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” type of agreement.

I guess not. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Some men just can’t hold their exercise.

When I exercise to excess, I’m positive that everything I say is Hilarious…and that people must not understand my jokes bc they aren’t laughing as hard as they should be. So then I explain my jokes in great detail. When I exercise, that is.

Did something happen in Vegas I didn’t know about??? I was just being silly. I already wrote about what I saw after the race, and it was just beautiful. And it would not have been that beautiful in striped socks and pom poms, so seriously don’t let anyone talk you into that, @Eric.

Exactly what I was doing in the medic tent that day. No laughing at all. Completely uptight, those people. I actually felt really bad for them.

No insulin during run because I forgot I didn’t have a pump! Still surprised my numbers stayed up like they did. Did a 2.5 unit IM at the end.

RPE less than 6 for the first 3 mi and inched up towards 7 throughout the rest of the run. Overall though, it felt great. Like a good and hard but without pain.

Do you want to talk about this?

Whatever it is, let’s fix it.

This is part of what we can work on if you like.

You know the magic happens before the run. And I know you can do this without coffee. In fact, if you had done this without the coffee, I think the run would have been easier.

Pump infusion sets? Problem with getting them? Is there something we can do there?

Levemir setup? Anything to work on with that?

Pre-run setup? Timing and food and so forth?

Is the Gabby-P contributing to this at all?

What can we work on?

@Nickyghaleb, I’m glad you got your run in, despite the sedation of the Gabby-P. I sure hope this resolves soon. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Appreciate it, @Eric. I’m just complaining. And am going to stop. Now. Or as soon as possible. Whichever is possible first.

Ran my long run today. Family was going to kill me if I tried that before the car ride tomorrow. So I’ll do 5 miles in the morning so that I can be nice all the way to NC.

And just a heads up… this is not impressive either.

July 26 8.5 mi indoor @6.4 pace

Levemir this morning but never did afternoon dose. Hour and a half late on that and had a “oh well” coffee. 235 and rising before leaving house.

1 unit IM at start
Have 3 syringes… 2 half unit and one unit
Starting BG 265
Mi 1: 251
*Half unit shot
Mi 2: 218

Hey, no matter where you started, a run that ends at 77 is a great run! So keep it positive!

We can fix the start.

You got the miles logged, so that’s also great!

Have a good, fun, and safe trip!

I either just replied to you and then fell asleep and deleted it or fell asleep, replied to someone else, and now can’t find it.

So this is the universal saying nap time.
