Awesome work, DM!

Dang, DM those are awesome numbers!

You were between 100 ~ 120 for all but the first 30 minutes. That’s wonderful! You should be more than impressed with that, you should be over the moon.

How many carb grams are you getting when you finish? Are you having 2 of those shakes!? :yum: I hope so.

Do you want me to tell you what a sports nutritionist would say your daily carb intake should be, if that was your daily workout? You might freak at the number a bit! :astonished:

yes, i had my 2 shakes right after i opened the lock to my front door. the strange thing that happened today is that i bolused as always for 50% of the total carbs. 2 hours later i had spiked from 106 to 230. haven’t a clue as to why. just pre-bolued 1/2 hour before dinner. hope my pump gave me the right correction. i always over-ride it and include more inulin anyway, but who the heck knows.

but thanks for your applause.

Everything else normal? Same disconnect time right?

same everything exactly. healthy bfast, good swim. gresat BGs all the way through except this one glitch. so weird.

2.5 hours post dinner, BG 105 (w/ 1.4 units IOB ) don’t get it at all.

Did you double check that 230 test? Might have been a bad test. I always double check if I get a number that seems wrong.

triple checked it. even checked it on another meter; different hands, diff fingers, diff meter.

just tested at 10pm; BG 78. had some chocolate. all i have left in me is basal…maybe a trickle left of my bolus.

but i am only swimming 4 days a week now (down from 5 )

That 230 is an example of why I overbolus post-exercise. After a long disconnect, those kinda spikes can happen.

i really thought i hit it hard after my swim, though. no less than usual in any case.

Trying to remember, but are Mondays a bit weirder for you than other days? Like after a couple of days of not swimming you spike more afterwards?

I know you have notes on everything, do you have any notes particular to days after you have not been swimming?

i think that you’re right. i’ll check my notes to see. right now we’re watching the Yanks cream Houston

I think the weekend “carbs + no swimming” gives you higher post-swim BGs on Monday than other days, if I remember correctly.

from what i remember, i thought i was carbing up on saturday for my monday swim??? (re-coop and re-fuel )

Yes, you have a higher muscle glycogen (stored carb) reserve on Monday than you do on Friday.

On Saturday and Sunday you “fill up the gas tank” and don’t “drive the car”. By the time Friday comes around, your tank is almost empty.

That is why you would see a difference between Monday and Friday. If all other factors were the same (I know they change somewhat from day-to-day), on Monday you would not drop as much on Friday. More fuel is available on Monday. Does that make sense?

yes, that kinda makes sense. i am so confused, though, b/c all my BGs on monday were excellent; just this one weird glitch.

Yeah, I know that was a weird one. Maybe it was a “one-off”. Just keep doing what you are doing and maybe it won’t happen again. If it does happen again, consider a more aggressive post-swim dose.

Another Swimming Day:

getting prepped for my swim. i am very excited to get back into the pool after 2 days of rest and pigging out, eric style  .

its a little after 10:30am in BKLYN NY, and i had a big bfast of oatmeal and milk. my BG post 3 hours since bfast my BG is 117 with .4 units of IOB. at 11:30am i give myself .5 units and then turn off my pump ( 0% TB for 2.5 hours …which is before i completely take off my pump and jump into the pool for a 2 hour swim )

hoping all goes well. i wait for 2 hours before i go to the pool so i have no IOB. no bolus left over from bfast either. typically i go in a bit high, but come down after my first hour. we shall see how it goes.

keeping you in the loop
