T1DCIT

Hey there!

I am a relatively new diabetian  -because sometimes it feels like it’s a separate country, am I right?

I was diagnosed July 2019, at 24 years old, and it has been an adventure so far! Juggling this crazy disease with my in-progress masters in counseling has definitely been a trip. I’m getting the hang of it though! Not really lol :upside_down_face:

I love swimming (when my sugar isn’t plummeting), rock climbing with my friends (when my feet aren’t being ridiculously sore from a high), and running with my dog for exercise. When I’m not doing that or working on assignments for school, you can typically find me deep in an adventure novel or doing some kind of art, or binge-watching Netflix with my younger bro.

One thing I can appreciate about T1D: all the leftovers from equipment feed my creativity for artwork! Example: BD ultra fine needle paper covers make great flower petals

One thing I’ve learned from T1D: it is actually possible to grieve over the loss of mindless snacking. Who knew? And why did I ever take for granted the ability to take off on a shopping trip without extensive planning ahead-of-time? Psssh. Gone now.

Anyway, that’s a little about me and my lovely (useless :woman_facepalming:) pancreas! I’m interested in hearing others’ stories, and am glad I’m not alone on this roller coaster!
