I am a T1 diabetic diagnosed in 1980. I have severe hypoglycemic unawareness and have fought lows for a long time. I started using the Dexcom G6 2 months ago and I really like not having to prick my fingers all the time. I also am excited to know that after many many years of trying to figure out any patterns to my glucose levels, Dexcom G6 can’t figure any out either. (In other words, it felt great to know that I wasn’t losing my mind and all of the technology in our world hasn’t figured out my bloodsugar patterns either.) I have been called a “brittle” diabetic since I was diagnosed 42 years ago. I always thought it was my fault. My CGM helped me to stop blaming myself all the time. My HGA1C is always good (6.0 to 6.5) so I’m also grateful for that. At the age of 48 years, I just feel like my body systems are far older than that. I assume I’m not alone in that feeling.
