My name is PierreM, I am the husband of a T1, now 43 diagnosed at age 16. We live in France near Paris and are blessed with 3 beautiful children.
I am joining the forum because we want to put in place a closed loop system for my wife. Eventhough she has good Hb1ac on average, her BGs are very hectic, which ruins her quality of life, especially at night.
I hope the forum members can help and we can help in return by sharing some information about our project.
Her current setup is
FGM: Accu-Chek Freestyle Libre (taken over by medical insurance here)
Pump: Omni-Pod (taken over by medical insurance here)
We used Dexcom G4 for about a year and still have some gear leftover (probably deactivated) but my wife was experimenting alarm fatigue and stress, so we stopped. On top it was not taken over by medical insurance.
I have an MSc in Telecom (U of Colorado at Boulder), cans still read code (I started at age 11, but stopped 20 years ago!) and able with my hands.
Together with my wife we can speak English and German fluently + Russian and Spanish - maybe it can help!
We do not intend to wait anymore!
