This is that thread.

What I could deduce about Paleface I deduced from his albums. I’m not a wobbly though many people who I respect arguably were and many of the songs I love perhaps are.

You complained about the doctors. Here is Phil Och’s take:

https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/0zPfI9xXUOInldU3QTnTPK?utm_source=oembed

I can’t fathom how these links work these days but when I originally got it (through google) it gave me the lyrics. I have the album of course. Spotify is just selling the shyte they can sell and a lot more they can’t.

There’s a whole history to American folk music much of which is being constructively lost. Sure, there are the wobblies, there’s Utah Phillips if you wish. The original song writers songs still sing true:

Malvina Milder was born on August 23, 1900 on Folsom Street in San Francisco, California, United States. Her parents were David and Abagail Milder, Jewish immigrants. Her mother was born in modern Ukraine and her father was born in Hungar...

I don’t know if I’m agreeing with you or not.

This is all helpful research, John. Thank you. I’ve read a little about the fact that he is known for social commentary, but what that commentary is, I don’t yet know. He might have fought in Afghanistan (I’m pulling that assumption from lyrics).

Oh my goodness!!! Thank you for that song. AMA is being sued by a patient advocacy orgs so this is a super fun resource that I can use. [https://www.healthcarefinancenews.com/news/ama-sued-over-copyright-cpt-codes](https://www.healthcarefinancenews.com/news/ama-sued-over-copyright-cpt-codes) I have a guy from a different pt community who is really excited about the lawsuit. He’s spent a lot of time trying to convince me that it can win. He’s convinced me. But that community who is suing had to save up money for 6 years in order to do it. The doctors have just been furious with AMA and launching some fantasticly impressive attacks against it.

The gov is investigating Epic software, so I’ve been using this one in an effort to help the doctors. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xB\_tSFJsjsw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xB_tSFJsjsw)

I’m from Bob Dylan territory. I saw him play recently. That’s notable because he hates Minnesota. Always has. People often hate the places they are born in. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGxjIBEZvx0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGxjIBEZvx0) Musicians are coming because of the turmoil.

P.S. I bitched at the doctors extensivley yesterday and as a result multiple people reached with job offers. 😅 The world just consistently does not work the way that I would imagine. It’s so strange.

Ahhh, Ok, Ok, OK. This is starting to make sense. Thanks soo much, John. I’m putting pieces together at the very last minute.

" all but been forgotten when [musicologist](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musicology "Musicology") [Saijaleena Rantanen](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saijaleena_Rantanen?action=edit&redlink=1 "Saijaleena Rantanen (page does not exist)") found three Finnish-language IWW songbooks in the [Immigration History Research Center](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immigration_History_Research_Center "Immigration History Research Center") archive in [Minneapolis](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minneapolis "Minneapolis") and at the [Lakehead University](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lakehead_University "Lakehead University") archive in [Thunder Bay](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunder_Bay "Thunder Bay"), Canada. Of these three books, only one had a known copy in Finland, and only individual pages of the other two had previously been known to have survived. The songs had possibly last been heard a hundred years earlier at American [Finn halls](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finn_hall "Finn hall").[[1]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tie_Vapauteen_(album)#cite_note-HS-1)[[2]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tie_Vapauteen_(album)#cite_note-Yle-2)"

Plus, the out of towners are sending me paperwork they want printed before they arrive. This is all making more sense. Baez was just here. [No Kings rally in Minnesota on Saturday, flagship event in St. Paul others in Minneapolis | MPR News](https://www.mprnews.org/story/2026/03/28/no-kings-rally-in-minnesota-on-saturday-flagship-event-in-st-paul-others-in-minneapolis) I see the partisan connections. Somehow this has something to do with Klobuchar. DFL wants to chat. I wonder what about. Something to do with Novo Nordisk’s rebranding effort and us suing them. The doctor’s unions locally just went on strike today.

Well, something for later given the crunch but I assume you have read this:

> **[A People's History of the United States](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_People%27s_History_of_the_United_States)**
>
> A People's History of the United States is a 1980 nonfiction book (updated in 2003) by American historian and political scientist Howard Zinn. In the book, Zinn presented what he considered to be a different side of history from the more traditional "fundamental nationalist glorification of country". Zinn portrays a side of American history that can largely be seen as the exploitation and manipulation of the majority by rigged systems that hugely favor a small aggregate of elite rulers from a

My first wife suggested it would be a bad idea to read it before the citizenship exam and I’m not sure it remained with me when we split up. On the other hand there is something that you must have been taught in school because it is part of the very short history of our country so far (just 250 years)🙂

He was one of the founding members of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) and a five-time candidate of the Socialist Party of America for President of the United States; through his presidential candidacies as well as his work with labor movements, Debs eventually became one of the best-known socialists living in the United States. Early in his political career, Debs was a membe...

It seems common here to believe that, “Attack is the best form of defense.” I believe that can be paraphrased quite accurately as, “Not listening is the only way to avoid learning.” I always love to learn but I don’t take to being told; there is never a need to shout. So it’s easy to criticise:

> **[Sámi Americans](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A1mi_Americans)**
>
> Sámi Americans are Americans of Sámi descent, who originate from Sápmi, the northern regions of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and the Kola Peninsula of Russia. The term Lapp Americans has been historically used, though lapp is considered derogatory by the Sámi. Most Sámi emigrants came to the United States to escape ethnic discrimination, religious persecution, and/or poverty. The traditions and culture of these immigrants were further repressed by pressure to assimilate within Anglo-American society....

If seems amazing that, as the most powerful country on this planet, we have somehow forgotten that we don’t need to defend ourselves by attacking someone else.

In the matter of US healthcare we are on some kind of ice flow that is clearly melting. Our response it to bring in ever larger AC units and criticise everyone else, particularly if they stand on solid ground.

I wouldn’t do that; listening is better.

I’ll listen to anybody who has an honest intention to fix anything.

That’s typically not the intention of political parties and political partisans (especially when they are campaigning). But as soon as they DO help solve problems, I stop calling them political partisans and I start calling them ‘members.’ Some individuals are somewhere in the middle. That’s confusing territory during campaign season because you don’t know if they are playing for their party or playing for practical problem solving.

I tend to give individuals the benefit of the doubt, but demonstrate increased skepticism of the parties during campaigns. The parties are at their peak level of “annoying,” right now. Even political partisans are annoyed with their parties right now. It starts to become dangerous because the parties are constantly asking for ridiculous amounts of money and time from voters. Voters ask, “What have you ever done for me?”

I’ll be irritated, John, if those insulin manufacturers come in and start preaching about all the “good” they do. It’s ultra annoying when they try to sound like angels. This guy is from CA. He knows whats going on there. [Attorney General Bonta Sues Nation's Largest Insulin Makers, Pharmacy Benefit Managers for Illegal Practices, Overcharging Patients | State of California - Department of Justice - Office of the Attorney General](https://oag.ca.gov/news/press-releases/attorney-general-bonta-sues-nations-largest-insulin-makers-pharmacy-benefit)

But maybe they will adress that. Don’t seem to, in what they published. Maybe they have some revisions.

The doctors in MN hatched a plan to start manufacturing insulin through the state because they simply couldn’t rely on those companies anymore. That was CivicRX, which moved to CA and is working in conjunction with the state to manufacture insulin and Narcan. When company corruption is so bad that the state needs to setup a competing company in order to supply the market, that’s not a great sign.

Do you think these strikes by Doctors can help anything? Some of the Docs are great and have really honest intentions to improve patient care. There are some great providers. But sometimes (somehwhat often) they just want more money. They get mad that they don’t get any professional respect or autonomy anymore. But they have not upheld their professional and ethical obligations over such a long time period that they have just lost their reputations. Because of their lack of patient advocacy, it can be hard to view them as anything other than just collaborators with the insurance companies. I get that perspective.

They lack resources, though, and have been getting moved around. I think U of MN Duluth hosts them now. American Swedish Institute exhibited some of their collection several years ago. They were Friendlies, @jbowler. Nothing to worry about. They didn’t say anything bad about diabetics. Completely supportive. They sold our position in a totally nonpartisan, practical way. Only downside was that I tried to do “the worm,” twice. Failed both times. I have never failed before. It really hurt. My face is pretty smashed up. I kinda knew that I didn’t have the strength to do it, in the moment. But I did it anyway. Every part of me hurts. It was all worth it. It all worked out.

I shouldn’t be so paranoid. Most people like diabetics.

The problem is that so many people are incentivized to do us harm. There’s financial or political or personal professional reward in it.

Someone sent me this paper this week. I really, really like it. It gets to the meat of things. Should be obvious, but I don’t know that anyone in our government ever writes w/ this much subtle insight about hc. It’s nice to see.
