# Our oldest son is graduating with his Bachelor's Degree in Physics

Not diabetes related, but definitely a monumental occasion for our family to celebrate.
Our oldest son, Devlin (who had cancer when he was just 1 - 2 years old) is very close to graduating college with his Bachelor’s Degree in Physics.
He was really concerned about one of his most difficult courses, Thermal Physics. And when I say difficult, I know physics is already hard in general, but for him, this was one of the hardest of the hard. He had been worried about the final exam, and his Thermal Physics professor was kind enough to give him a little extra time to complete one last requirement, a research paper, so he could focus on studying for that final.
Well, he did it. He passed the final, and he will be graduating.
His mother and I cannot say enough about how proud we are of him. He has pushed through some tough times, kept going, and stayed the course. We are both so excited to see him receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Physics very soon, and we cannot wait to see what he does next.

Theoretical physics is where he’s always been most interested (but loves the spectrum of topics within Physics…not so much Thermal Physics, though), and has really only always talked about one day being a Physics professor and doing simulations and experiments. His favorite place to be is in the lab. So we’re hoping he continues on through his Masters and PhD…but he’s talking about taking a break to work some first. The future is really up in the air right now, but this first chapter is at least behind him.

His 9th grade project was the Photoelectric effect and I recorded one of the rehersals for his mother and me, naturally. 😛

My daughter Amelia also graduated from Tulane University this weekend and we are an insanely proud family. Now she also needs to figure out how to put her neuroscience and/or psychology degrees to work!
