# Apple security urgent update

I received this alert from my ISP this morning:

@CatLady - I’d be very careful. I strongly recommend that you not click on anything that’s not an official apple update _ **including the link in your post!** _. I need - I really think @ClaudnDaye or another with appropriate privileges to disable that link. I sent a screen shot of your post to my 30-something sons, one a federal litigator in Manhattan and the other a senior AI researcher at Meta, whose girlfriend is in Apple corporate management, and they _both_ say it’s a hoax, and warned me not to click on anything not directly through the normal apple update channel. . Obviously, I trust their judgment for this kind of thing.
That being said, there is an apple 16.3.1 iOS update, which my phone hadn’t yet downloaded automatically, so I did it manually.
NB: I checked [Snopes.com](http://Snopes.com) myself, and found nothing, which is unusual because they’re usually right on top of this kind of stuff - whether it be true or false.

Have you run into issues with the Dexcom 6 ap working with IOS 16.3.1? It’s not listed as compatible yet, and I already have some issues with my iphone and the Dexcom ap, so I am leary about updating it. On the other hand if there is a new bug I would want the security of the update.

@Marie I DON’T use a Dexcom6, so all I can say is that I often get the same type warning from my Libre3 when there’s an iOS update (or when I’ve done an update and I’m installing a new sensor), but I ignore it and do the update and, so far, it always works anyway. I did do the 16.3.1 update yesterday and it did not affect my Libre app in any way that I can tell, but I can’t promise the same will be true for Dexcom. NB: I rely on the Libre solely as a CGM; it’s not looped into an insulin pump, etc., so there’s a lot less to go wrong. Can you call Dexcom CS?
PS - I also copied my sons on the Forbes article. Waiting for a response.
Update - their response, in words or substance: “Just do the update on your phone but don’t click anything anywhere else.”
