The Israeli company [cnoga](https://www.cnogacare.co/) has just started a marketing campaign for their new “hybrid” glucometer. I.e. a device for measuring BG. The “hybrid” word refers to the fact that it uses a mix of fingerstick readings and non-invasive finger readings using tech somewhat like that of pulse oximeters (which they also manufacture).

The devices is currently up for FDA approval but is available in Europe; it has CE approval, which basically means it won’t kill you and meets existing EU standards for comparable devices. The price is ridiculous; 1500 euros, and no indication about how much their test strips cost.

MARD from reference BG is in the link I gave - 14-17%. Only for T2 use (they say).

Still, despite my snarky comments, it does seem like a possible approach to making a non-invasive sensor work. They say that the fingerstick requirements after the initial (3 day) calibration depend on person and there is some hint that if your BG isn’t predictable 24 hours in advance there may be a problem.

The marketing campaign seems to be currently targeting the FE; that’s how I got it (a TikTok reference from my brother in law).

Here’s a study of the device

Nice! Small study but promising.
