The only reference in the article to the quote I was mocking is this sentence:
In one study, the cholesterol levels of subjects who were not receiving treatment were an average of 7.4 mg/dL higher in December than in June.
Paste that quote in Google and do a search, and the #1 link is my post on FUD.

Here it is, from 1987: a study performed in hyperlipidemic men. Quoting from the abstract: “A highly significant (X2 = 706, 2 degrees of freedom) seasonal effect, 7.4 mg/dl higher on December 30 than on June 30, was found.”
Usually the onus is on the person making the claim, not the one making fun of it.
I wonder if there is also research that shows that cholesterol in the US is higher on Nov 23, and wondering why…
